IN A LENS HOW WILL WE FIND OUT IF THE MAGNIFICATION AND THE FOCAL LENGHT IS NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE?​

it depends on the position of object and image.if object is on the back of the lens then we say u =negative.so image of object is in front ,v=positive.magnification is v÷u.so if v is positive and u= negative,magnification will be negative and if object and image are on same side magnification will be positive.
