C is the mid-pt of AB.
therefore, AC = BC = 1/2AB
Now, D is tge mid-pt of AC
therefore, AD= CD = 1/2AC

NOW, AC = 1/2 AB. .1.
And, AD = 1/2 AC. .2.
(putting value of AC in eq.2)
AD = 1/2 (1/2AB)
=AD = 1/4 AB.
