Answer :

›»› The measurement of the larger angle is 135°

Given :

  • In a linear pair the larger angle is three times of small angle.

To Find :

  • The measure of the larger angle = ?

Solution :

Let us assume that, the smaller angle of a linear pair is "x".

As it is given that, the larger angle is three times of smaller angle.

→ Larger angle = 3 * smaller angle

→ Larger angle = 3 * x

Larger angle = 3x

As we know that

The measure of a straight angle is 180°, so a linear pair of angles is also 180°.

According to the given question,

→ x + 3x = 180

→ 4x = 180

→ x = 180/4

x = 45

Therefore,

The angles will be,

  • x = 45°.
  • 3x = 3 * 45 = 135°.

Hence, the measurement of the larger angle is 135°.

Verification :

The sum of two angles of a linear pair is 180°.

→ 45 + 135 = 180

180 = 180

Clearly, LHS = RHS.

Here both the conditions satisfy, so our answer is correct.

Hence Verified !
