The suitable pair of linear equations for the given information is :

y - x = 8   -(i)

y + x = 76   -(ii)

• Let the marks secured by Anuradha be x.

Let the marks secured by Radhika be y.

• It is given that Radhika secured 8 marks more than that of Anuradha.

=> y = x + 8

=> y - x = 8  -(i)

• Also, given that, the sum of their scores is 76.

=> y + x = 76   -(ii)

• Now, adding equation (i) and (ii), we get,

(y - x) + (y + x) = 8 + 76

=> y - x + y + x = 84

=> y + y - x + x = 84

=> 2y + 0 = 84

=> 2y = 84

=> y = 84 / 2

=> y = 42

• Putting y = 42 in equation (i), we get,

42 - x = 8

=> - x = 8 - 42

=> - x = - 34

=> x = 34

•  ∴ Marks secured by Anuradha = 34

Marks secured by Radhika = 42
