GIVEN :-

  • total mixture = 126 kg .
  • ratio of quantity of milk and water is 5:2

TO FIND :-

  • the quantity of milk.

SOLUTION :-

Let the ratio constant be x.

quantity of milk = 5x

quantity of water = 2x

Hence , 5x + 2x = 126

⇒7x = 126

⇒x = 126/7

x = 18

Therefore,

quantity of milk = 5x = 5 × 18 = 90 kg

quantity of water = 2x = 2 × 18 = 36 kg

VERIFICATION :-

Total mixture = Milk + water

126 kg = 90 kg + 36 kg

126 kg = 126 kg

L.H.S = R.H.S
