Answer:

Use concept of Alligations.

The concentration of water in solution is 1/3 and concentration of water in pure water to be added is 1.

Further, required concentration of water in final mixture is 2/3.

Sol - - - - - - - - -pure water

1/3 - - - - - - - - - - - - 1

- - - - - - - 2/3 - - - - -

1/3 - - - - - - - - - - - - 1/3

Ratio of water in milk solution : water = 1/3:1/3

= 1:1

Water content in original solution = 30 L

> Pure water to be added = 30 L

Answer:

20

Step-by-step explanation:

Let water added be x.

Currently, 20 litres has 2:1 milk:water

=> Milk = 2/3*20=40/3

=> Water = 1/3*20=20/3

New mixture

milk=40/3

water=20/3+x

new ratio milk:water= 1:2

therefore (40/3)/(20/3+x)=1/2

=> 40/3/(20+3x)/3=1/2

=>40/20+3x=1/2

20+3x=80

3x=60

x=20
