In a mixture of 20 litres, the ratio of milk and water is 4:1. Show unang litres of wate whould be added to the mixture so that the new ratio will be 4:3?

  • Then (20-V) x 4/5 = 20 x 3/5
  • =16- 0.8V= 12
  • =0.8V= 4 ;
  • ;So V= 4/0.8=5.
  • So if we remove 5- Litres of milk-water mixture in the ratio of 4:1, and then add 5- Litres of water, the new mixture will contain milk-water in the ratio of 3 : 2.
