In a mixture of 35 litres the ratio of milk to water is 4:1. Additional 7 litres of
water is added to the mixture. Find the ratio of milk to water in the resulting

Answer:

Total mixture=35l

Amount of milk =4x

Amount of water =x

Therefore we have

x+4x=35l

⇒5x=35l

⇒x=

Amount of water =x=7l

Amount of milk =4x=4×7l=28l

If 7 liters of water is added then the amount of water =14l

Amount of milk =28l

and the ratio of milk : water will be

28l:14l
