13:2 = 45 litres

(13 units = 3 units) multiply by each other

1 unit = 1 litre

before = 39:6

after = 39:13

13 units - 6 units = 7 units

7 litres of water is added to the mixture

abbeycolton4: 7 litres of water is added to the mixture
alirizvi8860292174: can u plz explain it
abbeycolton4: Explain my working out?

abbeycolton4: so if you multiply the 13 and 3 by each other because the value of the two numbers are the same you get 39. If 13:2 is 39:6 then you know that 39:6 equals a total of 45 units. Therefore 45 units is equal to 45 litres and 1 unit is 1 litre. If the amount after is 39:13, you subtract the 6 from the 13 because those are the ratios of the water and you get 7. As I mentioned previously, 1 unit is 1 litre so the amount added is 7 litres
abbeycolton4: sorry I am not very good at explaining
abbeycolton4: hope this helps ;)
