Answer:

the new ration of milk and water is 37:31

Step-by-step explanation:

the ratio of milk and water is 7:5

let the common multiple be x

milk =7x

water=5x

According to given condition

5x+7x=72

12x=72

x=72÷12

x=6

milk =7x

=7×6

=42 liter

water=5x

=5×6

=30 liter

In a mixture of 72 liter milk is 42 liter and water is 30 liter

For new proportion

milk=(42-5) liter

=37liter

water=(30+1) liter

=31 liter

therefore,the new ratio of milk:water is

new proportion of milk/new propotion of water=37/31

=37:31
