The number of litres in the mixture = 90 litres

Given:

Ratio between milk and water = 2: 1

To find:

The amount of water required to make the ratio as 1:2

solution:

Therefore total ratio = 2 + 1 = 3

Quantity of milk =\frac{2}{3} \times 90=60 litres

Quantity of water =\frac{1}{3} \times 90=30 litres

Let the number of litres of water required is  a

To make the ratio of milk and water = 1: 2

\begin{array}{l}{\frac{60}{30+a}=\frac{1}{2}} \\\\ {120=30+a} \\\\ {a=120-30} \\ \\{a=90}\end{array}

Therefore, the amount of water required is 90 litres.
