So total expenditure+ total savings = his income

i.e. total expenditure+ 5000 = x

so it is given that total expenditure is

40x/100 + 15x/100 + 10x/100+ 15x/100 + 5x/100

total expenditure = 85x/100

85x/100 + 5000 = x

85x + 500000/100 = x

85x + 500000 = 100x

500000 = 100x - 85x

500000 = 15x

x = 500000/15

x = 33,333.3333........

Total salary = 33,333.33
