Answer:

In a myofibril, the band which contains only actin filament is known as Isotropic band or I-band

Explanation:

Myofibrils or myofilaments are parallelly arranged filaments in the sarcoplasm of the muscle fiber in large numbers. It is a characteristic feature of muscle fiber.

Each myofibril has alternate dark and light bands on it. It has a striated appearance, due to the distribution pattern of two proteins - Actin and Myosin. The band which contains actin is called I-band or Isotropic (light band) and the band which contains myosin is called A-band or Anisotropic (dark band). since the actin filaments are thinner than the myosin filaments, they are also called thin and thick filaments respectively.

These bands play a major role in muscle contraction. Myosin forms cross-bridges with actin during the process of muscle contraction.
