Given info : In a non-degenerate 2-level atomic system in thermal equilibrium at room temperature, a photon is emitted at the wavelength of 800 nm.

To find : The energy difference between the two levels is ...

solution : The energy difference is given by, ∆E = hc/λ

here hc = 1240 eV nm if we take λ in nanometre.

so, ∆E = 1240/λ (in nm)

given λ = 800 nm

∆E = 1240/800 = 1.55 eV

Therefore the energy difference between two levels is 1.55 eV. option (B) is correct choice.
