Given:

The adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 3 cm and 4 cm

To find:

The perimeter of the parallelogram

About parallelogram;

  • The polygon having four sides.
  • The opposite sides are parallel.
  • The opposite sides are equal in length.

So,

Two parallel sides will be 3 cm each and

The other two parallel sides will be 4 cm each.

Now,

The perimeter of the parallelogram is

= Sum of all four sides

OR

The perimeter = 2(sum of two adjacent sides)

Thus,

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 3 + 3 + 4 + 4

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 6 + 8

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 14 cm

With another method,

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 2(3 + 4)

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 2*(7)

The perimeter of the parallelogram = 14 cm

Hence,

  • The perimeter of the parallelogram is 14 cm

Given:

  • Adjacent Sides of a parallelogram are 3cm and 4 cm

To Find:

  • Perimeter of the parallelogram

Formula Used:

  • Perimeter = 2 ( a + b )

Full Solution:

  • Let, 'a' be 3 cm and 'b' be 4 cm

  • Applying the formula,

  • Perimeter = 2 ( a + b )

  • Perimeter = 2 ( 3 + 4 )

  • Perimeter = 2 × 7

  • Perimeter = 14 cm

  • Hence, the Perimeter of the parallelogram is 14 cm

Extra Information:

  • ↪ A parallelogram is a quadrilateral in which opposite sides are parallel.

  • ↪ The diagonal of a parallelogram always bisect each other.

  • ↪ All the parallelograms are quadrilaterals but all the quadrilaterals are not parallelogram.

  • ↪ A parallelogram in which two adjacent Sides are equal is a Rhombus.
