In a parallelogram ABCD,AB=10cm and the altitude corresponding to the sides AB and AD are respectively 7cm and 8cm.find AD?

area of parallelogram = base × altitude

base AB = 10

altitude = 7

area = 10 × 7 = 70

case 2

base AD = x

altitude = 8

area = 70

70 = 8 × x

x = 70 ÷ 8

x = 8.75 cm

therefore side AD = 8.75 cm
