Let 2 sides be considered as x and y.

Since the ratio is given such that x : y :: 4 : 5

This means x/y = 4/5 => 5x = 4y. --------> 1

Given perimeter is 72 cm. Perimeter of parallelogram is nothing but sum of all 4 sides which is nothing but 2x + 2y. -------> 2

Since opposite sides of parallelogram are equal.

From 1, clearly, 2y = 5x/2

So, in 2, we get 2x + 5x/2 = 72

9x = 144

x = 16cm

So from 1, y = 20cm

Since opposite sides of parallelogram are equal.

Hence the sides of parallelogram will be 16cm 16cm 20cm 20cm.
