≡ here is your answer....

Given :-

In a particular month Mr. Rao spent 5400, which was 20% of his monthly salary on food.

To find :-

(a)His monthly salary

(b) If he saved 15% of his monthly salary, then his monthly savings.

Solution :-

Let the monthly salary of Mr. Rao be Rs. X

Money spent on his food = 20% of his salary

= 20% of X

= 20% × X

= (20/100)×X

= (1/5)×X

= Rs. X/5

Money spent on his food = Rs. X/5

According to the given problem

Money spent on his food = Rs. 5400

=> X/5 = 5400

=> X = 5400×5

=> X = Rs. 27,000

a) His monthly salary = Rs. 27,000

His monthly savings

= 15% of his monthly salary

=> 15% of 27000

=> 15% × 27000

=> (15/100)×27000

=> (15×27000)/100

=> 15×270

=> Rs. 4050

His monthly savings = Rs. 4050

Answer :-

a) Monthly salary of Mr. Rao

= Rs. 27,000

b) Monthly savings of Mr. Rao

= Rs. 4,050
