For such questions try to imagine 3 points on a piece of paper. If you had 3 points how many lines do you have to draw to connect each point with the other two?
Simple! 3 (draw a triangle). In the same way if you had 4 points you would need to draw 6 lines (draw a square and both it's diagonals, you will find all points are connected)

A = n*(n-1)/2
