L₁ + L₂ = 400 cm ..... l
L₁ - L₂ = 100 cm ...... ll
On adding equation l and ll we get ,
L₁ + L₂ + L₁ - L₂ = 400 + 100
2L₁ = 500
L₁ = 250 cm and L₂ = 150 cm
E₁/E₂ = L₁/L₂
= 250/150
= 5/3
= 5:3
The ratio of ε₁:ε₂ is 5:3.
