In a process, temperature and Volume of 1 mole of an ideal monoatomic gas are varied according to the relation VT=k where k is a constant. In this process, the temperature of gas is increased by ∆T. Amount of heat absorbed by gas is? 1) kR∆T/2
2) 2kR∆T/3
3) R∆T/2
4) 3kR∆T/2

Answer:

3) RΔT/2

Explanation:

Firstly thanks for the nice question!!

The process is described by VT=constant (K)---(2)

Since this is no known ordinary process where a single element is constant like adiabatic, isothermal etc. ,This a polytropic process

Since PV=RT =>T=PV/R---(1)

From (1) and (2),

PV²=constant

Work done by such a process is given by RΔT/(γ-1)

Change in internal energy is given by fRΔT/2

Using ΔU=Q-W

Q=ΔU+W =(3)RΔT/2 - RΔT/(2-1)

Q= RΔT/2

[ NOTE : here W is negative due to work done on the gas]

Hope this answer helped you :)
