Let the total number of participants be x.

Now, we have to find out the percentage of male participants.

Percentage of male participants= 100-Percentage of Female Participants

                                                        ⇒ 100-48%

                                                        ⇒ 52%

Since, the number of male participants is given, we can find the value of x.

In this case, the equation will be:

52% of x= 39

Thus,

Total number of participants (x)= 39*100/52

                                                   ⇒75

Total number of participants is 75.

Thus,

Number of female participants= 48% of 75

                                                  ⇒ 36

Therefore, number of female participants is 36.
