In a quiz, team A scored – 40, 10, 0 and team B scored 10, 0, – 40 in three successive rounds. Which team scored more? Can we say that we can add integers in any order?

Team A scores in 3 rounds = (1) -40
= (2) 10
= (3) 0

total score by team A= -30 points

Team B scores in 3 rounds = (1) 10
= (2) 0
= (3) -40
total score by team B = -30

both scored equal points

and yes by this we can say we can add integers in any orders results will be same

Team A:

Total scores = -40 + 10 + 0 = -30 + 0 = -30


Team B:

Total scores = 10 + 0 - 40 = 10 - 40 = -30


Compare the scores:

Both team scored the same.


About addition:

We can add integers in any orders.

Associative Law of addition : a + b = b + a
