In a race in which there are no dead heats ,the probability that ravi wins is 0.2 , the probability that shekhar wins is 0.3 and the probability that imran wins is 0.4. Find the probability that

Given,

Probability that Ravi wins = 0.2

Probability that Shekhar wins = 0.3

Probability that Imran wins = 0.4

As per the question,

1) P(Ravi or Imran wins)

= P(Ravi wins) + P(Imran wins)

= 0.2 + 0.4

= 0.6

2) P(Ravi or Shekhar or Imran wins)

= P(Ravi wins) + P(Shekhar wins) + P(Imran wins)

= 0.2 + 0.3 + 0.4

= 0.9.

3) P(Someone else wins)

= 1 - P(Ravi or Shekhar or Imran wins)

= 1 - 0.9

=0.1.

Given:-

P(R)=0.2

P(S)=0.3

P(I)=0.4

Acc to que

✔✔ We use Addition theorem here⤵️⤵️

For first condition:-

P(R or I)= P(R)+P(I)

= 0.2+0.4

=0.6

Second condition:-

P(I or R or S) = P( I)+P(R)+P(S)

= 0.3+0.2+0.4

=0.9

If there is one more condition Arises that is :-

Find the probability of not wining a match for the first condition

Than :-

P(A)+P(A (bar))=1

So

that is

1-0.6=P(A) bar

.04
