Distance=300km=300×1000m=300000m
time taken =3h20min
=3×3600+20×60 sec
=10800+1200
=12000s
speed =distance/time
=300000/12000m/s
=25m/s
again distance covered in 40s =25m/s×40s=1000m

Heya!!
Distance that the car traverses is 300km =300000 m in the time of 3 hour 20 mins = (3×60+20) min = 200×60= 12000 seconds.

So, the speed of the car
speed =  \frac{distance}{time}  \\ or \: speed =  \frac{300000}{12000}
or \: speed = 25
thus, the speed is 25m/s.

The distance that the car covers in 40s while travelling with 25m/s is (25×40) = 1000m or 1 km
