Given : a rational number, twice the Numerator is 2 more that the denominator. If 3 is added to each, numerator and denominator, the fraction becomes ⅔.

To Find : the original number.

Solution:

rational number  = N/D

2N  = D + 2

=> D = 2N - 2

=> 2D  = 4N - 4

(N + 3)/ (D + 3)  = 2/3

=> 3N + 9  = 2D + 6

=> 3N  + 3  = 2D

3N  + 3  = 4N - 4

=> N = 7

D = 12

7/12     is the rational number
