In a reaction 4.2g of sodium carbonate
were reacted with 10g of ethanoic acid solution. The
products were 2.2 g of carbon dioxide and 12g of sodium ethanoate solution. Show that these
observations are in agreement with the law of conservation of mass.

Explanation:

According to law of conservation of mass

SUM MASS OF ALL REACTANTS = SUM OF MASS OF ALL PRODUCTS

therefore

mass of sodium carbonate + mass of ethanol acid = mass of carbondioxide + mass of sodium ethanoate

4.2g + 10g = 2.2g + 12g

14.2g = 14.2g
