Answer

A rectangle has all its angles = 90°

Thus, /_A = 90°

Now, E is midpoint of AD. Therefore;

AE = 1/2 × AD

AE = 1/2 × 40

AE = 20 cm

AB = 48 cm (Given)

By applying the Pythagoras Theorem in Triangle AEB:

\tt{AE^2 + AB^2 = EB^2}

=> \tt{20^2 + 48^2 = EB^2}

=> \tt{400 + 2304 = EB^2}

=> EB = 52 cm
