Given : In a rectangle ABCD of 3 mx 4 m, starting from A and D, along the sides  AB and DC after every 30 cm, a square shape of 10 cm is taken out

To Find : What will be the perimeter (in cm) of the resultant shape

Solution:

Perimeter of original square = 2 (3 + 4) = 14 m

= 1400 cm

For each square cut increase in perimeter = 2 * 10 = 20 cm  ( two vertical lines of square )

for every 40 cm ,  1 square is cut

hence 7 square are cut from 300 cm each side

so increase in perimeter = 2 * 7 *  20

=  280 cm

Resultant perimeter = 1400 + 280  = 1680 cm
