Given :- In a rectangle ABCD of 3 mx 4 m, starting from A and D, along the sides AB and DC after every 30 cm, a square shape of 10 cm is taken out as shown below. What will be the perimeter (in cm) of the resultant shape ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + Breadth).

So,

→ Perimeter of given rectangle of 3m * 4m = 2(3 + 4) = 14m .

now, we know that,

  • 1m = 100 cm.

So,

→ Perimeter of given rectangle = 14 * 100 = 1400 cm.

now , we have given that, starting from A and D, along the sides AB and DC after every 30 cm, a square shape of 10 cm is taken out .

So,

→ Side of square = 10cm .

than,

→ for each square cut increase in perimeter = 2 * 10 = 20cm. { Two vertical lines of square , as third line is equal to removing side length of rectangle. }

Now, we have given that, after every 30 cm , a square is cut .

So,

→ (30cm distance + 10cm width of square) = Total distance between each square .

Therefore,

→ Total square cut from 300 cm each sides = 300/40 = 7 squares.

Hence,

Increase in perimeter = 2 * 7 * 20 = 280cm .

→ Perimeter of resultant shape = 1400 + 280 = 1680cm (Ans.)
