Given:

The dimensions of the rectangle = 24 cm * 48 cm

Length of the side of a square = 6 cm

To find:

the number of squares that could be placed in the rectangle.

Solution:

The area of the rectangle will be : 24*48 cm² = 1152 cm²

Area of one square = 6*6 cm² = 36 cm²

The number of squares that can be placed in the rectangle will be :

1152 / 36 = 32

Therefore the number of squares of side 6 cm that can be placed in the rectangle of dimensions 24 cm * 48 cm is 32.

Given :-

  • A rectangle of dimensions 24cm x 48 cm.
  • A square of side 6 cm.

To Find :-

How many such squares can be placed in this rectangle?

Solution :-

In order to find out the number of squares which can be placed in the rectangle, we need to calculate the area of rectangle and square respectively.

Area of rectangle = length * breadth

                             = 24 * 48

                             = 1152 cm²

Area of square = (side)²

                         = 6 * 6

                         = 36 cm²

No. of squares which can be placed in the rectangle = Area of rectangle/Area of square

= 1152 cm² / 36 cm²

= 32

⇒ 32 squares of side 6 cm can be placed in the rectangle of dimensions 24cm x 48 cm.
