In a rectangle the length is a trace of the breadth and perimeter is 40 cm then what is its area
Answers
Appropriate Question :
In a rectangle the length is a twice of the breadth and perimeter is 40 cm then what is its area.
Given :
• Length of the rectangle is twice of its breadth
• Perimeter of the rectangle = 40 cm
To find :
• Area of the rectangle
Solution :
Firstly, we shall find the dimensions of the rectangle by using the formula of perimeter of rectangle. Then by substituting the values in the formula of area of rectangle we will get our required answer.
Let us assume the breadth of rectangle as x metre and length as 2x
Using formula,
• Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)
where,
• l = length
• b = breadth
Substituting the given values :-
→ 40 = 2(2x + x)
→ 40 ÷ 2 = 3x
→ 20 = 3x
→ 20 ÷ 3 = x
→ 6.7 = x
→ The value of x = 6.7
Substitute the value of x in the dimensions of the rectangle :-
Length = 2x = 2 × 6.7 = 13.4 cm
Breadth = x = 6.7 cm
Using formula,
→ Area of the rectangle = l × b
Substituting the given values :-
→ Area = 13.4 × 6.7
→ Area = 89.78
Therefore, the area of rectangle = 89.78 cm²
