Given :   In a research organisation, 70% of the employees are men and 60% of the employees are junior scientists, and 70% of these junior scientists are men.

To find : The  percentage of women who are NOT junior scientists

Solution:

Let say total  Person    = 100 P

Men  =  70 %  =  (70/100)100P = 70P

Women =  100P - 70P = 30 P

Junior scientist = 60 %  = (60/100)100P  = 60P

junior scientist men  =  (70/100)60P  = 42P

Junior scientist women = 60P - 42P  = 18P

women who are NOT junior scientists   = total woman - Junior scientist women

= 30P - 18P

= 12P

percentage of women who are NOT junior scientists  = (12P/30P) * 100

= 40 %

40 % of  women who are NOT junior scientists
