For triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90 degrees, and side AC has a length of 15. If point D lies on side AC, and a line is drawn from point B to point D, what is the length of line segment BD?

(1) Triangle ABC is isosceles.

(2) Line segment BD is perpendicular to side AC.

angle C=90°
let BC=X & CA=Y
NOW we have
X+Y=23
X-Y=7
then solving both we get value of X& Y
Where X=15 & Y=8 i. e. BC=15 &CA=8
now using pythagorus theorem
we get the value of AB=17
NOW SINA=8/17 & TanB=15/8
