By Pythagoras theorem
 {ab}^{2}  +  {bc }^{2}  =  {ac}^{2} \\  {3}^{2}  +  {4}^{2}  =  {ac}^{2}  \\ 9 + 16 =  {ac}^{2} \\ ac =  \sqrt{25} \\ ac = 5cm
