in a right angled triangle hypotenuse is 3m more than twice of the shortest side and third side is 1m less than the hypotenuse.Then find all lengths of the sides of a triangle. ​

Answer:

let shortest side = x

hypotenuse = 2x+3

other side = 2x+2

now, using Pythagoras we get,

x²+(2x+2)² = (2x+3)²

x²+4x² +8x +4 = 4x²+9+12x

x²-4x-5 = 0

x²-5x+x-5 = 0

x(x-5)+1(x-5) = 0

(x-5)(x+1) = 0

x = 5

sides = 5, 12, 13 (Ans)
