Consider Triangle ABC  with

AB = 12 cm

BC = 5 cm

AB^{2} + BC^{2} = AC^{2} \\12^{2} + 5^{2}  = AC^{2} \\144 + 25 = AC^{2} \\169 = AC^{2} \\AC = 13cm

By Pythagoras theorem, AC = 13 cm

Area = \frac{1}{2} * base * height\\  \frac{1}{2}  * 5 * 12\\30 cm^{2}
