In a right triangle ABC, hypotenuse = 5; one of the other sides is 3. find the third side?

Given:-

• Hypotenuse = 5

• Other side = 3

To find:-

• third side = ?

Solution:-

Let the third side be x

As we know that,

(Hypotenuse)² = (perpendicular)² +(base)²

=> 5² = 3² + x²

=> 25 = 9 + x²

=> x² = 25- 9 = 16

=> x = √16 = 4

Hence the third side is 4
