  • Ratio of final pressure to initial pressure is 4.

Given-

  • Container is rigid which means volume is constant.
  • Initial temperature = T₁
  • Final temperature = 2 T₁

Reaction is -

2 NH₃ → N₂ + 3 H₂

Volume and moles is constant.

By applying ideal gas equation-

P V = n R T, where P is the pressure, V is the volume, n is the number of moles, R is the universal gas constant and T is the temperature.

V and n is constant so P ∝ T

P₁/P₂ = T₁/T₂

1 mol of NH₃ gives T₁ so

2 mol of NH₃ gives 2 T₁

So,

P₂/P₁ = 2 T₁ × 2/ T₁ = 4
