Answer:

In a roller coaster, you have seen the track where coaster moves. You saw that height of the track keeps changing at every moment then what we know the formula of potential energy is mgh so height gets changing time to time due to which potential energy keeps changing.

If we take its kinetic energy then what we know kinetic energy is 1/2m(v)^2. Due to changing in heights and directions its velocity is also keeps changing at every moment. So this is the reason by which kinetic energy and potential energy keeps changing at every moment.

In a roller coaster, the KE & PE keeps on changing.

But why ?

First of all, the general expression for Kinetic energy and Potential energy is :

  • KE = ½ × m × v².

  • PE = m × g × h

m is mass, v is velocity, g is gravity and h is height.

Now, when the roller coaster moves through the undulating trajectory, it's height and velocity changes constantly as it moves from one part of the track to another.

This means that the value of v and h is changing over time.

\star So, the value of KE & PE change over time.
