In a row of boys A is 13th from the left. Boys before A=12 boys
D is seventeenth from the right.Boys after D=16 boys
In the same row A is eleventh from the right=10 boys after him.
Therefore, total number of boys in the line=12+1+10=23 boys
Thus number of boys ahead of A=23-16-1=6
D's rank will be 6+1=7th rank

Step-by-step explanation:

let the position of D be x from left

position of A from left is 13th and from right is 11th

thus boys in row are

13 + 11 - 1. ....1 is subtracted because 13th from left and 11th from right is a same guy that is A.

thus total boys in row = 23

now we know, D is at 17th from right

thus, 17 + x - 1 = 23

16 + x = 23

x = 23 - 16

x = 7

thus, position of D from right is 7th.
