In a row of children, Divya is 9th from the left and Kavita is 13th from the right. They exchange their positions and then Divya becomes 17th from the left. Find the new position of Kavita from the right end of the row.

Kavita is 20 th from the right end

Aryendra: Well you gotta draw a line then mark the position of Divya and kavita as D and V.Then as Divya is 9th there will be 8 children on the left ,similarly 12 children to the right of kavita

Aryendra: Now we gotta find the number of children in between them ,then our work will be easier .

Aryendra: Now since on interchanging positions Divya becomes 17th from the left ,no. Of children between these two positions should be( (17-9)-1){ e.g-think it of as the no.of children between the 1st and 3rd being 1 )

Aryendra: Now the total no. Of children = 8+1+7+1+12 counting from the left .( 1+1 for Divya and kavita). Now just place kavita at the interchanged position and count from the right (12+1+7) I.e 19 children on the right therefore her position is the 20 th

Aryendra: Sorry 12+1+7=20;I.e twenty children on the right ,hence the position will be 21st
