Let the original price be 'm'
Then,
100-15=85%
(85/100)×m=20.40
m=20.40(100/85)
m=2040/85
Therefore, m=24

The item was sold for 20.40 Rs.
and the discount ( Price Reduction ) was 15 %

So we'll have to calcucate 15 % of 20.40

15 % of 20.40 is :- 73.52

So the price was reduced by 3.06

Now we have to calculate the original price...

Original price will be = sold price ( Price at which goods were sold ) + 15% of 20.40

so the price will be 20.40+3.06
Which is 23.46 !

So the original price will be 23.46 Rs.

I hope it helps !
