no. of students who study a language = 3/4x

no. of students who study french= 3/5×3/4x =9/20x

no. of students who do not study french= 3/4x-9/20x= 6/20x= 3/10x

therefore ratio= 9/20x ÷ 3/10x = 3 ÷ 2

hence answer = 3:2
