hence 1 percent = 600/ 60 = 10
total boys and girls are= 10 * 100 = 1000
number of girs = 1000- 600
= 400

Number of boys = 600

60% of x = 600

( 60/100 ) × x = 600

x = ( 600 × 100 ) / 60

x = 1000

Number girls = x - number of boys

= 1000 - 600

= 400
