Let no. of students be x

therefore- no. of boys=5/8x

no. of girls=280

since,

xno. of boys +no. of girls = no. of students

therefore- 5/8x+280=x

solve the equation and get the value of students (x) and then subtract it from no. of girls to get the no. of boys.
