hey!!

here is your answer...

let's take the number if boys as X
then, the number of girls would be X + 120..

this X + 120 is the 5/8 th if the total...

the other 3/8 will be X

let's take the total is Y

then, 3/8*Y = X

 \frac{3y}{8}  = x

3y = 8x

now,let's take the girls..

5/8 * y = 120 +x

5y/8 = 120+x

5y = 8(120+x)

5y = 960+8x

from the first equation , we get..

8x = 3y.... now substitute..

5y = 960+3y

2y = 960.. .

y = 960/2

y = 480....

total is 480...

now, we have to find the boys...

 \frac{3}{8}  \times 480 =

3*60

180 students are boys...

hope it helps!

total student= X
no of girls=5/8X
no. of boys= X-5/8X=3/8X
no. of girls= 120 + no of boys
5/8* X= 120+3/8X
5/8X-3/8X=120
2/8X=120
1/4X=120
X=120×4
X=480
