Given : In a school library there are 1080 books of Mathematics and 792 books of  Science.  each shelf should have the same number of books of each  subject.

To find : What should be the minimum number of each subject in each shelf

Solution:

Maths Books  = 1080

Science Books = 792

To find minimum number of each subject in each shelf  , we need to find maximum Shelves for that

We need to find HCF ( Highest common Factor )

1080 = 792 * 1  +  288

792 = 288 * 2   +  216

288 = 216 * 1   + 72

216  = 72 * 3

72 is HCF

72 Shelves

Books  of Science in Each Shelve  =  792/72 = 11

Books  of Maths in Each Shelve  =  1080/72 = 15

minimum number of each subject in each shelf   11   & 15

Total = 26 Books

11 Books Of Science & 15 books of Math in each Shelve
