In a school of 500 students one fifth of the student passed in maths exam out of which 50 were girls. What % of boys passed in the maths exam.

total no. of student
 = 500



no. of student passed in maths
 =  \frac{1}{5} of \: total \:  =  \frac{1}{5}  \times 500 = 100
no. of girl passed in maths=50



hence no. of boys passed in exam


= no. of total student passed- no. of girls passed


 = 100 - 50
therefore,


percentage


 =  \frac{no \: of \: boys \: passed.....}{total \: no \: of \: student}  \times 100
 =  \frac{50}{500}  \times 100 = 10\%
