total numeber of students in school= 600

let the numeber of girls be 'x'

so the number of boys will become

1/6x

so

according to question the equation would be as follows

x+1/6x=600

7/6x=600

x= 600×6/7

well it is coming in points and it is not possible to gain the answer of a question like this in points. you should check the values of question

maybe instead of 600 it is 700.

but if the values are same

then you can take out the value if x by the given equation which will give the number of girls in school

and than divide the number of girls by 6 to gain the number of boys.
